FRONT COUNTRY TRAIL CREW

3/09- The Front Country Trail Crew is now in action!

We are now certified by local agencies to lead trail maintenance projects. We have started working on parts of Jesusita and Tunnel Trails doing light tread work and brush removal. With over 70 miles of front country trail to care for, the FCTC will help to maintain the trails as recommended by the agencies and trail users themselves. Who can be part of the Front Country Trail Crew? Anyone can be part of the FCTC.

Crew Information: Starting in early April the Crew will hit the trails twice a month. We have chosen Tuesday afternoon as the day for our trail work and will hope to start about 4pm and finish at dusk. We encourage anyone who has every wondered about doing trail maintenance to come take part in our FCTC. No trail building skills are required, only that you would like to improve local trail conditions and you are a hard worker. We are hoping to have up to six persons each volunteer session with hopefully the occasional repeat volunteer. Thanks to donations from tool manufacturers each member will have their own set of equipment including: Dakine Builders Packs(shown below), Loppers, Hand Saws, Mcleods, and a Helmet. As needed we also have a selection of Pulaskis, Pole Pruner/Saws, and Combi Tools. *Note- The Multi-use Trails Coalition/Front Country Trail Crew does not own or use gas or electric powered equipment for any of the trail work we do.

Teams, businesses, groups, and organizations welcome!

Are you part of a local group/business/or team? We would like to get your group involved and get you the credit. We have set up a program where we supply the tools, training, and a certified crew leader and your group supplies up to 5 workers. You will recieve credit for your contributions as the local agencies are prepared to recognize local groups that contribule to bettering our trail system. Some photos of your group/team/or business helping do trail maintenance will look good on your website or in a newsletter also. Contact us with times you are available and possible projects you are interested in working on and we will make this happen, together.
